Alta Lake Residence

Emerging from a massive basalt rockface, this striking family home stands at the precipice between the rugged mountainside and the cool alpine waters of Alta Lake. The landscape design is a study in this interface of rock and water – throughout the property, these elements find form in numerous water features that flow into contemporary hardscapes.

The landscape is a naturalized, West Coast woodland with golden larches and wild delphiniums among other local plant species.
Defined by a dynamic contact of rectilinear shapes and raw alpine edges, the architecture deploys clean order to highlight the sublime chaos of the natural landscape.
Pre-construction native species are identified and will be given room to grow in the new gardens under construction.
