Makena Beachfront Hale

Overlooking the shores of renowned Makena Beach on the island of Maui, this spectacular property encapsulates the best of Hawaiian life. The landscape is oriented for immersion in expansive views from the spacious lanai and infinity-edge pool. Among the lush tropical gardens, notable landscape features include a front entry bridge with a water feature representing the nearby Pools of ‘Ohe’o, a custom outdoor shower area for each of all four bedrooms, an exceptionally sized hot tub to accommodate multiple guests, and a sunken firepit to enjoy under the stars and Hawaiian moon. Truly, a stunning place to watch the Humpback whales breaching in the bay and the beautiful sunsets over the distant Kaho’olawe Island.

Recent visits to site to walk the dimensions and measure the finished grade of the infinity edge. As well, an adjacent Heiau (ancient worship site) is protected and visible from the gardens.
Some inspiration for the site came from local hotels and dazzling pool designs. Though tricky to establish, the client is wishing for an abundance of the exotic fuchsia-hued Lipstick Palms (Cyrtostachys rend) throughout.
A selection of the concept design iterations, always pushing beyond the expected. As well, a visit to the local nursery, South Maui Gardens, always inspires.
An excerpt of details from the extensive drawing package, illustrating the grade changes near the meditation and yoga platform and the integrated pool mechanics. The fly-through model demonstrates the grandiose extents of the property, while maintaining the breezy feeling of the islands.
